GTA 6 has its first TV commercial, and it’s a little different than the launch trailer.

The 90-second GTA 6 advert, which was spotted on NBC Sports, is for the most part the launch trailer Rockstar Games released last week, but the shower smooching scenes have been taken out. All three of them. Luckily, that means some of the other scenes are slightly extended, giving us a few milliseconds of extra footage.

The slightly stretched launch trailer scenes give us a longer plane shot and a marginally extended shot of Jason and Lucia playing around while leaning on a car — now she almost falls over when Jason nudges her. And look at that hair tech!

Meanwhile, the TV spot doesn’t mention Xbox as a playable platform for GTA 6 at all, despite GTA 6 launching on PS5 and both Xbox Series consoles next month. This is further evidence of the extensive partnership between Sony and Rockstar for GTA 6 marketing rights, which has seen official trailers and the extended gameplay look feature gameplay captured from PS5, and messaging that calls PS5 “the best place to play.”

More casual fans who might discover that GTA 6 is coming out at all from an advert on something like live sports might reasonably conclude that PlayStation is the only place to play Rockstar’s open world crime sequel, which is no doubt what Sony’s hoping for from its partnership.

Last month, Microsoft stepped in to address a report that claimed GTA 6 preorders were “heavily skewed” toward PS5 over Xbox Series X and S. In a report about recent layoffs and studio reorganization at Xbox, The Verge’s Tom Warren said the PS5’s dominance over GTA 6 preorders was “ringing yet more alarm bells” about Xbox as a platform.

However, Xbox CSO Matthew Ball insisted that Microsoft was “very happy” with GTA 6 preorders, and that its internal data showed preorders were matching “our share of the console market.” Sony has published blog posts talking about the features of the PS5 that GTA 6 will use, such as the speaker in the DualSense controller and the pad’s haptic feedback. Other additions to GTA 6’s PS5 marketing campaign include a version of the PlayStation app logo on smartphones that features GTA 6 colors and pale tree fronds. So, with PlayStation’s partnership in full swing, preorders being “heavily skewed” toward PS5 doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

Miami is currently completely taken over by the game, which is set in a fictionalized Miami called Vice City, as well as the surrounding area. Yesterday, people spotted GTA 6 Burger Shot restaurants pop up in the Kaseya Center. Fans also recently spotted flashy GTA-branded sports cars driving around Miami. The cars were seen with camera crews, suggesting some kind of live-action advertising is happening for GTA 6.
