Earlier this year at MagicCon in Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast revealed its in-universe sets for 2027, but that only covered three of the six planned sets. The other three are Universes Beyond — the card game’s crossover brand — and we’re about to learn what at least one of them is at New York Comic Con, and given that both Marvel and Wizards of the Coast are advertising the panel, it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s a Marvel set.

Marvel is no stranger to MTG at this point, after two full sets with Marvel Superheroes and Spider-Man in the last year. On Magic’s website, when describing the NYCC panel, it just says, “There’s even more Magic beyond the booth. Join us on Friday for a panel featuring all sorts of Magic Reveals!” That doesn’t really say much. However, Marvel’s description of the same event is a lot more detailed.

Marvel’s description of the event is much more cryptic, where it says, “Expect Magic: The Gathering, a universe beyond our own and some people who know things they’re currently not allowed to talk about.” I don’t know about you, but that sure sounds like another Marvel Universes Beyond set is coming to Magic.

Unfortunately the panel will not be streamed, but I’ll be there live, reporting all the details on what Wizards of the Coast and Marvel have been cooking up since the Marvel Superheroes set back in June. The two Marvel UB sets have been mixed, with the Spider-Man set being a major let down, while Marvel Superheroes had a ton of great cards and a fun limited environment. Let’s just hope whatever’s revealed leans more towards the latter than the former.

Of course, it’s possible that this whole panel is just revealing a Secret Lair drop. Let’s hope that’s not the case. The panel starts at 7:45 pm ET / 4:45 pm PT, so we at least won’t have to wait long to see what’s in store.

6:15 pm: I’m about to head over to the panel, but it looks like Wizards of the Coast has already announced the new set on YouTube. It’s Darkhold Destiny, and it looks like a completely original take on Marvel. None of the cards or mechanics have been announced, but this fits Magic’s world much better than Spider-Man or Marvel Superheroes did.
