Final Fantasy 7 fans are getting excited for a Story Expansion pass that has been glimpsed as part of a new store leak.

The Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Story Expansion Pass can be seen right now via a listing spotted lurking in the depths of the Epic Games Store database, along with placeholders for up to nine DLC packs.

It’s unknown what these DLCs might be for — so anything from fully-fledged expansions to simple costume or item packs are possible. But the existence of a specifically-labelled “Story Expansion Pass” suggests some of these, at least, will be additions that comprise fresh narrative.

Already, fans are speculating over what these DLCs might comprise, with hopes that elements could be adapted from animated spinoff movie Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, or third-person shooter Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7.

Other fans are excited to see Genesis, the primary antagonist in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, an action role-playing spinoff released for the PSP. Exactly what will — and won’t — be adapted remains to be seen, though this is likely Square Enix’s last and best chance to add extra elements to its Final Fantasy 7 remaster project, making it feel as complete as possible.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched back in 2020 for PS4, with its enhanced Integrade version later launching for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. The trilogy’s second slice, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is also now available across all platforms. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding chapter, is currently set for launch in the first half of next year.
