Mortal Kombat 1 developer NetherRealm has delayed the launch of Kameo character Ferra and announced the release date of the next DLC character, Takeda.

Ferra, the small fighter who sat atop the hulking Torr as part of the combined Ferra & Torr character from Mortal Kombat X, was set to hit Mortal Kombat 1 in Kameo form later in June, but now launches alongside Takeda’s early access release on July 23.

In a tweet, NetherRealm said it needed “a bit more time to make sure she can assist to the best of her abilities,” and thanked players for their patience.

Before we can release Ferra as our next Kameo Fighter, we need a bit more time to make sure she can assist to the best of her abilities. Ferra will now be available alongside Takeda’s early access release on July 23. We thank you for your patience and will keep you updated.

July’s launch of Ferra and Takeda completes Mortal Kombat 1’s first Kombat Pack, which includes the Jean-Claude Van Damme character skin for Johnny Cage and six playable DLC characters: Omni-Man from the Invincible franchise, Quan Chi, Peacemaker from the DC Universe, Ermac, Homelander from The Boys, and Takeda Takahashi, as well as five DLC Kameo fighters: Ferra, Janet Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Tremor.

Thoughts now turn to what follows for Mortal Kombat 1 during its second year, with NetherRealm yet to announce DLC plans. Earlier this month, a prominent Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer uncovered evidence to suggest that Ghostface from the Scream franchise is a future DLC character. Ghostface was assumed to be a part of the inevitable Kombat Pack 2, but the character’s release may be tied up with the ongoing issues surrounding the next movie in the series, Scream 7.

NetherRealm development chief Ed Boon has confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 will get story DLC and “a big surprise after that.” Meanwhile, the Mortal Kombat 2 movie is due out October 24, 2025.
