Embers Adrift Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Redshore Revamp and More

Embers Adrift may be small, but this indie MMO has proven it’s got plenty of heart. Developed by Stormhaven Studios, the game just crossed its two-year anniversary, and the team is celebrating with a major update that shows just how far the game has come since its rocky launch in 2022.

Since then, Embers Adrift has gone from being a buy-and-sub MMO to a more accessible buy-to-play model with an optional subscription. The addition of a free trial which lets players explore the first zone as much as they want has also opened the door for new adventurers curious about this community-focused old-school MMORPG. Community manager Elloa highlighted some of the game’s key improvements in a recent post on the official forums, from new dungeons and quests to the inclusion of solo dungeon loops for players who can’t always find a group to run dungeons with.

Perhaps the biggest change in the latest update is the Redshore Forest revamp, which aims to make this massive zone more engaging. “Redshore has been revamped to offer a better playground to our community,” the devs tweeted. The updated zone now features improved points of interest and better map flow for smoother exploration. But that’s not all—there are also character creation tweaks, a new mail system, and improved targeting mechanics to make the combat experience more intuitive.

Two years in, and Stormhaven Studios isn’t slowing down. Their focus on listening to player feedback and continuously improving the game has helped Embers Adrift stand tall in an increasingly competitive MMO market. To mark the occasion, the team is also sharing heartfelt player testimonials on social media, reminding everyone that this little MMO has built a dedicated community.
