Microsoft Confirms Spyro Reignited Trilogy Xbox Game Pass Release Date

UPDATE: Microsoft has confirmed the release of Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Game Pass.

In a blog post, Microsoft said Spyro Reignited Trilogy hits Game Pass tomorrow, November 12. That’s on Game Pass Standard, Game Pass Ultimate, and PC Game Pass, for cloud, console and PC.

ORIGINAL STORY: Microsoft has teased the addition of Spyro the Dragon to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

In a thinly veiled X/Twitter post from Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft published a short teaser showing a chest, with the message: “Hey uhh who left this chest here?”

The official Spyro account replied with those eyes that mean something is definitely happening but hasn’t been properly announced yet.

This is all pointing to a Game Pass launch for Toys for Bob’s well-received collection Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, which launched in 2018 to critical acclaim. It includes remakes of the first three games in the Spyro series: Spyro the Dragon (1998); Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! (1999); and Spyro: Year of the Dragon (2000). As of September 2023, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy had sold over 10 million copies.

Wave 1 of Game Pass’ November 2024 lineup wraps up with the November 19 day one launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which means Microsoft is set to announce Wave 2 soon.

The addition of Spyro to Game Pass would continue the drip-feed release of Activision Blizzard games on the subscription service following Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of the company last year. Game Pass already has Blizzard’s Diablo 4 and Activision’s recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with plenty more to come.
